eBay's Chaos Theory

This article on eBay's Chaos Theory is one of the most comprehensive and balanced I've seen in a while. It also touches quite a few areas I'm immersed in - the finding team and search exerience, stemming, SIF to Core reversal, and buyer experiences.

eBay Gift Cards

eBay Gift Cards launched in retail stores on September 24th. I and dozens of bright, enegetic folks at eBay and PayPal worked on this project for several years. I'm proud of this project, and a bit humbled by the dedicated work of the team that it took to get this launched. My best contribution was knowing when it would live on its own - March 2007 - and letting my colleagues run with the ball, which they did with gusto! I've gained a healthy respect for business development and product roles, as I've seen firsthand those contributions and the depth of decisions and effort needed to get this launched. Huge kudos to Suzanne, Eric, Gus, Jack, the two Davids, Corey, Irene, Mohan, the two Jennifers, Gene, Joon-Soo and...too many to list. This project was the natural offline extension of eBay gift certificates. You can join the discussion about eBay Gift Cards on the eBay Community Boards. You can buy the million+ eBay gift cards offline at over 10,000 US retail eBay gift card distributors.

Interesting things bubbling up at eBay

There are plenty of innovative and creative technologies bubbling up at eBay. I'll consolidate the ones that I know of that are publically available, and list the links to them. Most are either alpha or beta so they may be buggy, broken, or unavailable. I imagine you'll put up with quite a bit of bugginess to be an early adopter or a previewer, right? I knew you would. :)
